A true pedal legend has been reborn! Diamond was one of the original front runners of the boutique pedal era during the early 2000s and cemented themselves as true tone innovators with iconic designs such as the Diamond Compressor, Memory Lane Delay and Diamond Tremolo.
In late 2021, the original Diamond team decided to close up shop, which sent shockwaves through the industry. Luckily Greg Djerrahian of SolidGoldFX couldn’t see a pedal industry without Diamond in it, and decided to pick up the mantle. It’s now 2023 and Diamond are back better than ever, as Greg and his amazing team of engineers have managed to give these legendary pedals modern feature updates to fit the needs of today’s players, all while keeping and staying true to the core sound and philosophy of Diamond. Spectacular tones in spectacularly easy to use pedals.
Diamond’s first batch of re-releases includes the venerable MEMORY LANE – digital Bucket Brigade Delay (dbbd), their legendary Compressors resurrected as COMP/EQ and BASS COMP/EQ, the TREMOLO a veritable amplitude-modulating, signal-chopping monster and the DRIVE, which revives the two-stage Overdrive found in the original J-Drive. All these reborn pedals have been faithfully re-created, expanded with new features and circuit upgrades to be ready for the modern era.
“My first time trying a Diamond pedal was at NAMM around 2017, if I remember correctly. But where the year might be a bit blurry, the tones I heard still stand as clear as day. I plugged into the Diamond Compressor and was immediately blown away. I had never heard a better compressor in my life. So musical, clear, present and with nothing but killer usable sounds across the full range of its simple controls. I told myself that day that I absolutely needed one, and now I finally have one. Plugging into the new Diamond Compressor/EQ instantly brings me back to that day. This is the finest and most useful compressor I’ve ever played.”
