From their lair of sonic doom and gloom in Texas, Frost Giant Electronics have been building some of the heaviest dirt devices known to mankind. Founder Greg Calvin spent years and years obsessing about the iconic RAT circuit, modding it to oblivion in order to unearth the monstrously otherworldly dirt tones he could hear in his head. This tonal obsession has resulted in a true treasure-trove of earthshakingly loud distortion and fuzz pedals with standout releases like their epically ferocious rodent-inspired release The Mountain, punishing dual pre-amp monster Architect Of Reality and instant doom machines Massif and Soma. So if supreme saturation is what you’re looking for, then you gotta play through some Frost Giant goodness.
“I remember trying The Mountain for the first time a couple of years ago at a gear hang at a friend’s place. Yes, that’s something we do. Nerdy, I know, but awesome. The second I played my first chord through The Mountain, I knew this pedal was special. It just compressed perfectly and had such a musical breakup. It was way more than just a one-stop doom machine, and I found myself playing that thing for hours. So of course we had to carry Frost Giant when the chance presented itself!”
