Kinotone… Remember the name, because this is gonna be a brand that will shape the future of the world of pedals. Jaak Jensen began laying the foundation for what would become Kinotone as he started messing around with ARM processors in 2020. What started as a distraction from all the madness in the world at that point in time, quickly began to take shape, materialize, become a concept and a vision for what pedals can be when they marry the sound and feel of analog with the extreme precision and flexibility of digital. This vision became Ribbons, which saw the light of day in December 2022. A super powerful lo-fi toolkit, that lets you customize truly haunting low fidelity textures that are absolutely out of this world.
Where Ribbons used digital to emulate analog to a tee, Kinotone’s sophomore release, Sparks went the other way and laid down a sweet analog drive and filter foundation, and augmented it with worlds of digital control, allowing you to create tried and true dirt tones, sizzling synth sounds and interstellar modulations.

“To me, a pedal is a direct look into how the builder’s mind works, and with Kinotone it’s clear that Jaak’s mind is one that absolutely bubbles with creativity, ingenuity and sonic obsession. Both Ribbons and Sparks have impressed me massively with their beautiful sound quality and absolutely insane versatility. I would happily put both of them on my board any day of the week, as they cover so much ground and lead me into inspiring uncharted territories every time I plug in.”
