Founded in 2020 by Ryan McGill in Oakland, California, Vongon is currently the new kid in pedal class, but they’ve already managed to gain a ton of attention with two head-spinningly beautiful releases.
The sights and sounds of Paragraphs and Ultrasheer show that Vongon is a builder with a clear vision, as they perfectly marry vintage rack gear aesthetics with modern day pedal tech, resulting in devices that would look and sound equally at home in the studio as well as on stage. The all analog four-pole low-pass filter tones of Paragraphs are warm and vintage, yet carry the modern tweakability to push it far into futuristic filter landscapes. The Ultrasheer seeks to capture some of the reverberating magic of the legendary Lexicon 224, while creating its own legacy along the way through its juicy vibrato that’ll add instant lush lo-fi vibes to the sound.
The precedence shown with Paragraphs and Ultrasheer makes it clear that Vongon is gonna be a treat to follow for years to come.

“When you’ve messed with pedals for as long as I have, you start to feel like you’ve seen it all… and then all of a sudden, Vongon pops out of nowhere! Really fresh designs, both sonically and visually, and that Ultrasheer is just pure nostalgic ambient magic, and instantly hit me in my atmospheric heart. Wow!”
